We offer mixed used community development from concept through to turnkey completion. We also offer the ability to deliver the various tenant components of a development community needed to ensure its sustainable financial success over the long term from concept through to operational commencement.  

Union Place Holdings was created to address the need of vertical mid to upscale mixed-use developments in underdeveloped communities and neighborhoods. Our motivation is to fill the need through development opportunities

Our Story

Founded in 2019 with a vision to create unique mixed use developments in the south metro of Atlanta, GA, Union Place Holdings has quickly become a prominent player in the construction industry. Our team of experts brings decades of experience in designing, constructing, and delivering large-scale projects. We are dedicated to delivering modern, sustainable, and community-centered developments that meet the needs of local residents and businesses.

Tonya Nance

Tonya Nance, CEO of Union Place Holdings, is the visionary leader driving the company’s growth and innovation. With over $2 billion in commercial, industrial, retail, residential, and raw land developments, and the management of over 78 million square feet of industrial space across 17 U.S. markets, Tonya brings a wealth of expertise and a proven track record.

Her career includes leadership roles at DCT Industrial (building and leasing), Keller Williams (assistant team leader), Norfolk Homes (Director of Development, Huntsville Division), and Diversified Development (Real Estate and Development Project Manager). Tonya has successfully led projects at all stages of real estate development— from planning and acquisition to efficient design, value engineering, budgeting, construction, and administration.

Committed to innovation, Tonya is focused on bringing mixed-use developments to untapped markets. She has experience leading teams in residential, commercial, and industrial construction, as well as in residential sales and marketing, property management, contract procurement, business marketing, public relations, and corporate operations.

Known for her intuitive leadership, Tonya excels at identifying opportunities and building relationships. Her strategic thinking brings together diverse organizational goals into a cohesive vision. She empowers her teams by listening and inspiring them to achieve their full potential. Tonya is a barrier-breaker and a pathfinder, earning her a respected seat at the table in every organization she serves.

Gussie Hopkins

Gussie Hopkins is the Chief Operating Officer of Union Place Holdings, a seasoned strategist with over two decades of experience in real estate development and project management. Renowned for her ability to streamline complex initiatives, Gussie has successfully managed projects exceeding $270 million, leveraging her expertise to untangle intricate challenges and drive teams toward proactive solutions.

With a leadership style that balances attentive listening with firm guidance, Gussie empowers her teams to achieve successful outcomes across all projects. Her skill set includes comprehensive project planning, operational efficiency, and seamless project execution. She is highly proficient in project management methodologies, process optimization, risk mitigation, and cultivating high-performing teams.

Gussie’s strategic insight, combined with her technical acumen, allows her to effectively manage large-scale developments while fostering collaboration and ensuring organizational goals are met. As COO, she continues to be an indispensable asset to Union Place Holdings, guiding the company toward sustained growth and operational excellence.

With 18 years of experience as an architectural designer. Prem is committed to providing clients with innovative design solutions. His portfolio includes a variety of projects such as single-family residential, multi-unit housing, public educational facilities, university facilities, community centers, sports facilities, and commercial and office buildings.

Rob Hanna

Rob Hanna is an expert in designing and developing sports complexes and wellness communities for private businesses and public municipalities across the United States and globally. He helps communities create facilities and programs that cater to recreation, training, competition, recovery, entertainment, and engagement through sports and wellness.

Michael Shiffman

Michael Shiffman, President of Union Place Holdings, brings over 20 years of corporate leadership, startup expertise, and entrepreneurial success to his role. With a career marked by pivotal leadership positions and successful business ventures, Michael has consistently driven growth and transformation across various sectors. As a key founder, he scaled revenues to over $20 million, leading to successful exits that solidified his reputation as a dynamic business leader.

 

Throughout his corporate journey, Michael has held executive roles such as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), where he led teams of more than 500 members and drove revenues past $40 million. His leadership in these roles has been instrumental in fostering organic growth and operational excellence.

 

Specializing in the real estate sector, Michael has a proven track record in operational improvements, infrastructure development for scalability, and M&A processes. His deep understanding of development procedures makes him an invaluable team member at UPH. Michael’s strategic focus on growth through acquisitions has consistently delivered successful outcomes.
